Who looks after your data
Angelo Osimo Cacchione, a sole trader based in England, trading as Solomon's Old Ways, is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: [email protected], {{BUSINESS_ADDRESS}}.
What we keep when you buy
- Your email address, so we can send your download link and help if something goes wrong.
- Your country: the country of your billing address, the country your connection came from (country only, worked out by our host Cloudflare; we don't store your IP address), and the country that issued your card. Tax rules for digital products depend on where the buyer lives, so we keep these as evidence.
- Your order: the order number, price, currency, date, when your download first started, and whether it was refunded.
- Which link brought you: a short tag such as "ig", "tt" or "yt" and the campaign tags in the link (utm tags), so we know which channel works.
Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record, collects your name, email, billing address and card details to take the payment, work out any tax, and deliver the book. We don't receive your full card details. Lemon Squeezy's own privacy notice explains how it uses that data.
What happens when you just browse
- We don't use analytics or advertising cookies, and we don't track you across other sites.
- If you arrive through one of our links, the site saves the link's channel tag in your browser's local storage, so the right channel gets credit if you buy later. It stays on your device and is only sent to us if you press Buy. You can clear it by clearing this site's data in your browser. Act 2025; a short notice or opt-out may be needed.)
- Our host Cloudflare processes connection data, including IP addresses, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- If you use "resend my link", we store a scrambled code made from your IP address (not the address itself) for 2 days, to stop the form being abused.
Why we use it (lawful bases)
- To deliver what you bought (contract): your email, order and download link.
- To keep tax and accounting records (legal obligation): order details and country evidence.
- To run the shop sensibly (legitimate interests): preventing abuse, rate limiting, and knowing which channel links lead to sales.
We don't send marketing emails. If that changes, we'll only send them if you've opted in, and every email will have an unsubscribe link.
Who we share it with
- Lemon Squeezy: payments, tax, refunds, the download and the purchase email.
- Cloudflare: hosting this site.
We don't sell your data. These providers may process data in the United States.
How long we keep it
- Order records, including your email and country evidence: 6 years, because UK tax rules require sole traders to keep records for at least 5 years after the 31 January filing deadline. (If we register for the EU VAT One Stop Shop, EU sales records must be kept for 10 years.)
- Download links expire after 72 hours.
- "Resend my link" abuse-prevention codes: 2 days.
- Records of checkouts we couldn't accept because of the buyer's country (country and channel only, no personal data): 12 months.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, delete it (we may need to keep order records for tax), restrict or object to how we use it, or receive it in a portable format. Email [email protected]. We'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
The Almanac is for adults. We don't knowingly sell to anyone under 18.
About Solomon
